Comparison, Patience, and Honesty: An Interview with Mori

“I’ve said this before, but if I could gatekeep one artist, it would be Mori. Only in her early 20s, she has already gotten 2 EPs under her belt, a dedicated fanbase of almost 45k followers on TikTok ,and a degree from Berklee College of Music - producing alumni such as Laufey, John Mayer, Adrianna Lenker, and Lizzy McAlpine. She can be found at @morilovesyou across most social media platforms.

As I am starting to feel is a growing theme with my favourite artists, Mori lives in the States meaning that we resorted to a zoom call featuring my very shouty mic and lovely green-tinged camera. I’m convincing myself it adds to the whole authentic interview style (please someone fix my laptop camera, I’m so serious). Despite my less than ideal tech, Mori was - and I’m going to sound like a broken record here - such a sweetheart and was such a pleasure to talk to. The interview had such a quick turnaround due to the imminent release of her new single on 11th July - proven by how I’m currently writing this piece on my lunch break at work - and she was so lovely to fit me in at such short notice.
